Kate graduated from Johnstown High School (NY) in 1999. After high school Kate attended St. Lawrence University for 2 years but decided to take a year off and train at Vierumaki Sports Institute in Finland. In 2004 Kate returned stateside to finish her schooling at the University of New Hampshire, where she earned her degree in English. Eventually she hopes to earn a Masters Degree in Elementary Education.

Kate recently moved across the country to train with Rick Kapala's Olympic Development Team in Sun Valley, ID.

"I feel that as someone who has enjoyed the benefits of skiing for 12 years, it is my obligation to share my knowledge and experience with younger skiers and the community."
