Olympian Ivan Babikov hails from Syktyvkar (Komi Republic)
in the North West of Russia - not far from the Ural Mountains.
Babikov balances being one of the fastest skiers in the world
with family life: he is married to Svetlana, and Ivan tells
us, "She is not a skier!" Ivan and his wife are
also parents of Sergey, a 5-year old son.
Babikov lives in Canmore, Alberta, where he is trying to
gain citizenship. Throughout the winter, he travels the Continent
and World.
Ivan has been
on skis since he was 2 year old and says, "I like it,
it's my job, skiing is my way of life!"
Although Ivan's training is not necessarily training for marathon
racing specifically you should certainly count on him impressing
many people among the marathon circuit.
